Free radio network (FRN) is a free software program which uses voice over internet protocol (VOIP) to communicate over the network.
With this program it enables you to talk around the world using a Pc with a microphone and internet connection.
The program is similar to Skype and many others. FRN can be connected to a PMR 446 or CB radio, using VOX or an interface called a com port keyer.
These are called gateways and extend the range of the radio and make it possible to operate away from the Pc.
The network is broken down into servers which are run and maintained by individuals who put in time and effort so that others can use the system. Each server may have it's own set of rules for that server.
